Kendrick, Doja Cat & Tems came out hot in British designers at the Grammys

The 2023 awards were a big night for Vivienne Westwood, Martine Rose, and KNWLS, plus Steve Lacy in sexy Saint Laurent, Cardi B in Paco Rabanne, and Olivia Rodrigo in slinky gothic Miu Miu

God, the red carpet has been boring the last few years. The 90s are long past, so it’s not a case of dragging the celebs that get dolled up and tramp down the gauntlet in front of hordes of paps baying for blood, but honestly, where is the drama? Where are the risks? Give us berserk 1998 MTV Music Awards-esque looks, Björk swathed in a swan, Celine Dion in truly ahead-of-its-time backwards Galliano, or give us death.

Seems like a handful of stars took heed of this last night, with the 2023 Grammy Awards red carpet seeing actually quite a few lewks served up for once. Sure, no one laid a golden egg as they made their way up into the venue, but we did get Honey Dijon and uber-glam Bond girl Alaïa, Steve Lacy in extremely hot Saint Laurent, record-breaking winner Beyoncé in silver and gold Gucci, Olivia Rodrigo in slinky Miu Miu, and Cardi B in a showstopping chainmail tribute to Paco Rabanne, who passed away at the age of 88 last week

There was a common denominator among those that really killed it, though, with a number of guests opting for UK designers. Kendrick Lamar showed up in understated Martine Rose, after outing himself as a fan while touring 2022 album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers in a bunch of the designer’s looks, while Dazed coverstar Tems went for bright dandelion satin care of Vivienne Westwood. Last up was Doja Cat, who stepped into a custom brown leather KNWLS look that laced up the sides, and a pair of matching boots. So a big night for Bey, Kendrick, and more, but also a big night for the best of British fashion design.
