Kanye is making his new Yeezy Foam Runners from algae

Algae-zus walks

After debuting his Yeezy Foam Runners to some mixed reactions on Twitter earlier this year, Kanye West has revealed that the style will be partly made from algae. The decision to incorporate the green organism into the shoe is part of the brands move towards a more sustainable future.

Appearing at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in Manhattan yesterday, the Yeezy designer explained that by making the foam from algae instead of the toxic fossil fuels that are usually used in its manufacturing process would help to protect waterways and wildlife. West went on to confirm that the company is also exploring alternatives to harmful dyes.

Seemingly pleased with his new proposition, West went onto to claim that his clothing brands business model would help him secure the 2024 presidential race. “When I run for president in 2024, we would create so many jobs that Im not going to run, Im going to walk. What Im saying is, when yall read headlines – ‘Kanyes crazy, this and that – one in three African Americans are in jail and all the celebrities are in jail also ‘cause they can't say nothing, they got no opinion, theyre so scared!”, West told a bemused audience. The rapper previously claimed he would run for the 2020 race at the VMAs in 2016.

Also stating that he would be moving his Yeezy production line to a 4,000-acre ranch in Wyoming, fitted with its own hydroponic farm, West went on to speak about his relationship with Virgil Abloh and his LVMH deal which fell through.

Becoming environmentally conscious seems to be the latest notch West is adding to his belt. His recent conversion to Christianity was expressed in his new album, Jesus is King. But with the album dubbed as ‘boring’ by most critics, the merch which followed also receiving some mixed reactions online, and his latest Sunday Service being compared to Fyre Festival, heres hoping the rappers sustainable efforts are more effective than his religious ones.
