Isamaya Ffrench joins Off-White as Beauty Curator

‘One of my most memorable beauty moments was supporting Virgil’s runway vision and I feel so honoured to continue creating in celebration of his legacy’

Is Isamaya Ffrench the busiest person in the beauty industry? The make-up artist today is announced as the new Beauty Curator for Off-White, where she will help elevate and push the brand’s make-up offerings into new territories, after its beauty range launched last April

“Off-White speaks to a whole generation. Off-White Beauty will be the perfect way to bring this experience to a whole new dimension and I’m incredibly excited to be working on the beauty line in collaboration with Ibrahim Kamara,” says Ffrench.

Over her decade-long career, Ffrench has teamed up with brands including Tom Ford, Christian Louboutin, Burberry and Byredo to help them with their make-up ranges. In 2018, she founded Dazed Beauty, alongside Bunny Kinney, and last year she launched her namesake line of beauty products, most recently dropping a pair of dick-shaped lipsticks. She is also a part of the Farfetch Beauty Global Collective and puts out music with her four-piece ensemble Alto Arc, as well as with Sam Thomas (who she has an album coming out with later this year).

This new role with Off-White has been years in the making, and one that was discussed with founder Virgil Abloh before his tragic death. “We discussed her two-and-a-half years ago with Virgil, and Virgil loved her,” Andrea Grilli, the brand’s chief executive officer told WWD. “One of my most memorable beauty moments was supporting Virgil’s runway vision and I feel so honoured to continue creating in celebration of his legacy,” Ffrench said in the same interview.

Off-White joined the beauty market last year with “Paperwork”, a ‘genderless’ range of nail polishes, fragrance and face crayons. In a saturated market, which seems to be getting more crowded by the day, Off-White will be hoping Ffrench can help make a bigger impact than it has managed thus far. The brand noted that Ffrench will push the beauty range into new territory with “boundary-breaking, elevated packaging, designed for everybody”. With oyster-shell eyeshadow palettes for Byredo, and horse-head, penis, and nipple-ring packaging for her own brand already under her belt, all eyes will be on what comes next at Off-White.
