GAIKA interviews Jeremy Corbyn about the future of our planet

The avant-garde artist and Dazed’s political editor-at-large meets the Labour leader to discuss climate change, protest, and what young people can do

On May 1 2019, Jeremy Corbyn – leader of the opposition here in the UK – declared a climate breakdown. “Today this House must declare an environment and climate emergency,” he said. “We have no time to waste. We are living in a climate crisis that will spiral dangerously out of control unless we take rapid and dramatic action now. This is no longer about the distant future.”

For this Dazed film, we sat the Labour party leader down in a secret North London garden with GAIKA, avant-garde musician, our political editor-at-large, and author of The Spectacular Empire, to discuss how climate change is an issue that perhaps isn’t accessible to everyone, the recent waves of teenage-led protests, and how he plans to preserve the future of the planet.

Through rain and shine, we investigated what our future looks like in the hands of a man seeking the power to change it.
